We had lived in the same building for years. We started off as friendly neighborly neighbors! John would bring me his mobile phone charger when the building power would go out, bring me a fan when the building had no AC, and we would reach out to each other with doggy questions (and complaints!)!

Our friendship ramped up, and finally John asked me if he could make me dinner to thank me for something. I have food allergies and didn’t want to be high maintenance, so I casually said “no thanks!”. THANK GOODNESS John didn’t take no for the answer! He asked again, and they made plans for John to cook me dinner that Saturday night. On that first date night, Boomie managed to eat a container of hand sanitizer, and John loved how I knew what to do and took care of Boomie. And, John was incredibly impressed at my ability to eat spicy Indian food!

We’ve been pretty inseparable since that first night! We became official a few weeks later, and about 3 months later we took our first trip together, to Denver. We went to see an artist we both LOVE, Ray LaMontagne, and the concert was at Red Rocks. It was obvious during that trip that there was LOVE (even though John wasn’t ready to say it!), and we knew that we had found our person. We got to do all the things in the city of Denver (John’s cup of tea) and we got to do a few epic hikes (Whitney’s pick!). For the concert, John surprised me with almost front row seats. It was the most MAGICAL night, and we both felt all of the feels. I can close my eyes and still be there.. and feeling the warmth of Johns arms around me. I wanted that feeling forever!
